P7 Sustrans

23rd May 2023

Today all Primary 7 pupils took part in the Big Street Survey led by Steven from Sustrans.

They spent the morning as a group discussing all the ways they travel to school and what they see along the way. Steven also asked what made their journeys more difficult what was the favourite part of their journey to school.

The pupils then divided into class groups to carry out the street survey at 4 different points around the entrances to school. This was a great opportunity to pinpoint both positives and negatives around our school environment that might encourage pupils to travel to school in a more eco-friendly and healthy way. Pupils discovers that the main roads around our school are extremely busy!!

In the afternoon the three classes came together to discuss their results and decide what could be put in place that might help our school community. One of the main suggestions was a bicycle rack for pupils to use!

Thank you to Steven (and Miss Cassidy!) for organising today and encouraging our pupils to think about how we get to school and highlighting what could be done to make walking or cycling more accessible! 🚲
