Holy Family Nursery Unit

Some time ago our Nursery teacher, Mrs Monaghan, won a bursary award which will enable her to travel to Italy to take part in the Reggio Emilia pre school study week which takes place 17th - 21st November. This project has been highly acclaimed for its innovative approach to pre school education. Click on the picture of Mrs Monaghan being presented with her award at the Odyssey to read more.....

Holy Family Nursery Unit is managed by a caring, forward thinking team who provide a challenging stimulating learning environment designed to develop each child’s potential allowing them to learn at their own pace, grow in confidence through the promotion of positive attitudes to learning and the ability to cope with their immediate surroundings, developing relationships with peers and adults.

The Nursery Unit is purpose built with well thought out learning areas for the children to develop and explore both indoor and outdoor environments.

The staff work in partnership with parents building up a picture of each child before they join, so that individual needs and challenges can be planned for and implemented. Parents are invited to stay with their child during the settling in period. Informal and formal meetings take place during the year to keep parents up to date with progress and at the end of their Nursery year each child is presented with a profile of their achievements.

Good relationships between our Nursery Unit and the main school ensure the transition is smooth and seamless. The transfer of information between teachers helps in planning the children’s learning.

Meeting emotional needs is a commitment on behalf of all staff to interact with each child in a thoughtful positive way to engage in learning, promoting attitudes and attributes that good learners need to possess.
