School Choir

Holy Family has always enjoyed a rich choral tradition. We value good singing and each year new children join our school choir and meet weekly as a group. They enjoy singing a variety of songs, which help to develop good tone, breath control, and good diction. Music allows the children to develop confidence and to aim for the highest standards to showcase the talent they have in abundance.

Our school choir is busy throughout the year enhancing school Masses, the Sacraments, school concerts, special events, singing competitions, and providing music in the community, particularly at Christmas time.

We have developed an instrumental group which accompanies the choir at certain events. Traditional music is very important to us and celebrations throughout the school to mark our patron saint are always led by our traditional Irish music group, Clan na Ceolteori.

We are very fortunate to be supported by Mr Pandy Walshe [guitar] and Mrs Maria Lupari [flute]. We gratefully acknowledge the support of our parents who always present the choir children so well in school uniform for all choir events.

Music Group

To be able to play the guitar or any instrument for that matter is a great gift. To be given the chance to try is very important. Guitar lessons at Holy family Primary School have been thriving for the last number of years and there is a steady stream of interested hopefuls!

I got my first chance many years ago in Primary 7 and it was something I knew even then I dearly wanted to do. Not only have I been able to make a living from this invaluable start but I have ended up full circle right back where it all began teaching the children from Primary 5, 6, 7.

I believe this would never have happened had it not been for my introduction to music in primary school. The guitar is perhaps one of the most difficult instruments to learn, but despite this children can benefit greatly in other aspects of their young lives just by taking part.
